DIETETICS & NUTRITION

Objective:

The Nutrition department at Haykel Hospital delivers specialized medical nutrition therapy to inpatients and outpatients as an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team.

Food service:

The nutrition department also provides a clean and safe environment for employees and kitchen staff. The kitchen at Haykel hospital is directed by HACCP principles (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) in addition to LIBNOR that we use as our point of reference which is a public institution attached to the Ministry of Industry.

Dietetic Internship:

The department is also committed to teach new dietetic interns by giving them the opportunity to experience and know more about their role in the health profession.

Inpatient Care:

Dietitian at Haykel provides counseling sessions to educate and motivate patients for:

  • Weight loss and weight gain
  • Obesity
  • Cancer
  • Gastrointestinal disorders (Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn's Disease, Celiac disease - Sprue and others)
  • Women’s care issues (preconception nutrition, prenatal nutrition, breastfeeding, nutrition in menopause and more)
  • Cardiovascular (heart) issues (high cholesterol, high triglycerides, high blood pressure, cardiac rehabilitation)
  • Nutrition and wound care
  • Pre-diabetes and diabetes
  • Metabolic syndrome

 

Community awareness:

Our dietitian and dietetic interns participate in all community events organized by the hospital by designing diverse nutrition-related campaigns.
